Finally a well done reissue of this MONSTER of West Coast R&B!!!!......Maxwell Davis was the Willie Dixon of West Coast blues.  As an arranger, producer, talent scout, tenor player & bandleader Davis' only competition would be Johnny Otis.....Much of Johnny Otis' recordings as bandleader & producer have been compiled, but this set is a real treat because so much of his material has never been reissued........The set has solid sound and an 18 page booklet with label shots, vintage photos and an in depth biography by r&b expert DAVE PENNY.  Not only do you get to hear his own combos work, but also the myriad of artists he worked with and recorded over 2 decades.......this really is the goodies!!!!!!!!!  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!...................
